Thailand update, July 5th - End of day
Remember when I wrote "I've never needed to pay someone to beat me up, and I don't plan on changing anytime soon"? Guess what? That changed.
The girls convinced me and Mandy to get a massage to celebrate our anniversary. Mandy received just a foot massage. I, however, got the full treatment from a woman we have since named Helga! Helga has biceps (and a mustache) bigger than me. She gently twisted me into a pretzel over, and over, and over again. Holy smokes, that woman was intense.
I'll probably visit her again one more time before we leave to come home.
Karen and Briana went with us to the massage place. Brother John spent some quiet time in his room. Wendy, Paul, Allison, and Megan ventured over to the mall on a baht Bus. After our wonderful experience with Helga and her Thai friends, we returned to the hotel where Karen and Briana went swimming, Mandy took a nap, and John and I sat by the pool to chat about nifty things.
Around 7:30 the entire team ventured a little further from our hotel to find a restaurant listed on our "places to eat" list. The place was named Star Dice. We blasted right past it the first time, turned around, walked a little slower, and found it. Whew! The food was OK for the most part. Nobody got sick. That's gotta tell ya something.
After our meal we decided to try to cross the street and visit a bakery. Have you every had a "near death" experience? We did!!! Mandy lead the way, the rest of the team followed, and came within inches of being creamed by a truck and about 20 motor scooters. Our team managed to stop all traffic in both directions at one time. Of course we were laughing about the situation once we reached the other side, and even more when we looked back to see Brother John still standing on the side we started from. I'd say 5 minutes later he was able to cross.
The bakery was nifty. A few of us picked up some goodies for breakfast in the morning. Crossing the street to return to the hotel was a piece of cake. We mastered the technique the first time around.
We have a change of schedule tomorrow. Originally we were to attend worship at the Sweat Shop. Instead, we will be attending the church of the pastor who was specifically responsible for resolving the situation with the peer distribution. This is an all Thai church. Should be a very cool experience.
Thank you everyone for your prayers. We love you and miss you.
YBIC,
Jim

After working hard down at the pier, you deserve to be beaten up professionally, I'm sure!
Jim and Team,
I am so jealous of your time of worship in Thailand. I still remember how moving it was last year. I know you are having a great time and being well used by God. I can almost feel your enthusiasm through the blog. Know you are being prayed for! Happy Anniverary to two of the greatest people I know.

Hey I'm online!
Excited to hear all is going great! I too know your time of worship will be most rewarding. Relax and let the Holy Spirit do His work. Don't forget to journal every day. It's too important, you will forget if you don't!
Jim did you witness to Helga? Women with mustaches and muscles need Jesus too, don't you think!?:~)
